INTRODUCTION
The department of Industrial Mathematics and Applied Statistics was among the first five departments in the faculty of Applied and Natural Sciences established in 1999. The department is also a major service department in the University. The Department offers the following degree Programmes
B.Sc Honours in Mathematics
B.Sc Honours in Industrial Mathematics
B.Sc Honours in Statistics.
The Programmes are designed to train and produce graduates that will use Mathematics/Statistics tools in solving real life problems
THE AIMS AND THE OBJECTIVES OF BACHELOR HONOURS DEGREE PROGRAMME IN INDUSTRIAL MATHEMATICS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

The entry requirement shall be at least credit level passes in five subjects including English, Mathematics, or further mathematics, physics to form the core subjects with credit in any other two relevant science subjects at the senior secondary school certificate or its equivalent.

Each Mathematics course in the department is designated by three letters MAT
The first digit of the course code represents the year. The middle digit represents the stress area. The last digit has the odd numbers for the first semester course, while the even numbers used for second semester courses

DIRECT ENTRY
Candidates with two A level passes (graded A-E) at the Advanced Level in one or more relevant subjects (Mathematics, Physics and Further-Mathematics) may undertake the three – year degree programme into 200-level. Candidate with good NCE result in Mathematics, HND in any physical sciences and Bachelor in Engineering or Technology shall be considered for direct entry admission.
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for award of degree of Bachelor of Science (B.SC) Mathematics, Industrial Mathematics and Statistics a candidate should have satisfied the normal University requirements, satisfying the approved faculty of science requirements in respect of work load, registration of courses and programme duration as well as the departmental requirements.
